Kazakhstan: Almaty
This article describes about my observations of Kazakhstan in general and Almaty in particular, also compare it with Tbilisi. Kazakhstan is a large country as big as India, located in Central Asia , south of Russia. Since Kazak was part of USSR, the history and literature is very much influenced by Soviets. Most of the country is dry area covered with shrubs and desert plants. The horizon expands to large empty lands with hills and small mountains as far as eye can see. Appa

Kazakhstan: Butakovsky Gorge
Date: 24 May, 2026 After hiking to Shymbulak the previous day, I was unsure whether to go on another hike before heading to Kyrgyzstan or just relax for the remaining couple of days. However, I met a local Kazakh, Dauliat, on the Shymbulak hike suggested doing waterfall hike . Eventually, I decided to hike to the Butakovsky Gorge waterfall at night and informed Dauliat. The Only Goal That Ever Mattered
Everyone has different aspirations: some aim to start a company, others wish to become athletes or celebrities, and some desire to be artists, among other goals. These ambitions are often focused on gaining influence, control, power, or a symbolic form of mating rights. Although there are positive aspects such as discipline, skill improvement, and providing comfort, these goals can lead to increased stress, a guilt-free conscience, indirectly exploiting labor or resources fro

Kazakhstan: Kaindy and Kolsai Lakes
Date: May 20th, 2026 It's not typical for me to join tour groups due to their strict schedules, which limit my ability to explore an area more thoroughly. However, since traveling around Kazakhstan isn't as straightforward as in Georgia, I decided to try JoinMe tour company based on a recommendation from another tourist, and my experience was quite satisfactory. On the first day, we toured the lakes, and the second day concluded at Charyn Canyon. We woke up around 6 AM, thoug

Kazakhstan: Charyn Canyon
Date: May 21, 2026 As part of the bus tour, we spent the day at Charyn Canyon. It's about an hour from Saty village, and the ride was comfortable. The tour covers three main sites: Black Canyon, Moon Canyon, and finally Charyn Canyon. We started with Black Canyon, where the rocks are predominantly black. We spent about 15 to 20 minutes admiring the canyon. The weather was pleasant, slightly hot with a cool breeze, as the area is a vast, dry desert. A river runs through the ca

Let's explore some of the ideas we associate with happiness: Goals/Accomplishments - Having goals can motivate us to improve ourselves, but many of these goals focus on money, power, or control over others. Painting: Parochialism
Date: March, 2026 Size: 24" x 36" Medium: Oils on Canvas We frequently repeat behavior without comprehending their purpose and hesitate to explore beyond our material world. We confine ourselves to daily routines, cultures, and national borders. Our minds have been conditioned to limit our thinking and not venture beyond these routines. Recently, I contemplated what subject to choose for my next painting. This led me to decide on painting fish in a pond, with different fish r

Painting: Fruits - hyper realistic
Date: March, 2026 Size: 24" x 24" Medium: Oil on Canvas In my quest to improve my oil painting skills, particularly in creating hyper-realistic artwork, I have chosen to paint a still life of fruits. This marks my first painting in Bali, as I continue to combine my travels with my passion for finearts successfully. You can observe the realistic depiction of the table's elements. The subtle gleam on the papaya seeds indicates a slightly dim lighting effect. The mangosteen and

Should we be judgemental?
We often hear from wise individuals that one should avoid being judgmental, or that being non-judgmental is the highest form of intelligence. However, as we navigate life, we frequently make judgments to make decisions that serve our needs. This seems to contradict the earlier notion about refraining from judgment. Let's delve into these two seemingly paradoxical approaches to see whether they are mutually exclusive or can coexist harmoniously. In our daily lives, we decide w

Painting: Eyes
Date: Jan, 2026 Medium: Oil on Canvas Size: 24" x 24" This time, I decided to enhance my oil painting skills as I aim to gradually transition into doing more of these. Instead of choosing an overly complex subject, I opted for something simpler and painted the eyes of one of the hiking guides from our Uttarakhand trek.
