Uzbekistan: Bukhara

Date: July 4th to 11th, 2026

Bukhara is another historical site in Uzbekistan. It is a small city that places a lot of emphasis on art and handicrafts. Personally, I preferred Bukhara over Samarkand or Tashkent because the city is small, easy to navigate, and has friendly people. Bukhara is not only renowned for its art, but it is also the birthplace of Imam Bukhara, who later settled in Samarkand.

Some notable places to visit in Bukhara include the Choir Minor Monument, Labi Hovuz, Ulugbek Madrasah, Abdulaziz Khan Madrassah, Poyi Kalon Complex, Ark of Bukhara, Registan, Bolo Hauz Mosque, Markaziy Bozor, and the Saif ed-Din Bokharzi Mausoleum.

Initially, I planned to spend 3 days in Bukhara, but I ended up staying for 8 days because it was hot, and I preferred to relax rather than visit other cities.

Majority of the madrasas are converted to small stores where merchants sell their artworks. As you can see the city is full of these arts and handcrafts. I loved most of the items as they were very detailed and takes lot of effort to make them.
